Welcome to our study

Playing different versions of a Space Invaders game

In this study you will play the classic arcade game "Space Invaders". We are investigating how different versions of a game of Space Invaders are played and how fun they are.

Before you decide whether you would like to take part, please read the following information carefully.

This research is being conducted by 2nd year undergradute students and Dr Anthony Little as part of a research project at the University of Bath.

You are eligible to participate if you are aged 16 or older. Taking part in this research is entirely voluntary.

What does the study involve?
You will be asked to complete an online questionnaire about yourself.  You will then play four different versions of a game of Space Invaders. After each game you will be asked to fill in four questions about your reaction to the game. The study will take around 15-20 minutes to complete.  After you complete the survey, you will be informed in more detail about the aims and hypotheses of this study.

Will my information be kept confidential?
All information you provide will be anonymous and stored on password protected computers/drives as well as potentially shared via public repositories (e.g., https://osf.io). Data will be stored indefinitely. No identifying information will be asked from you. You can choose to withdraw from the study at any time without any negative consequences by closing your browser. Your data will be retained for each section of the study you complete if you select “continue” on the page or complete ratings. Please note, that because data you provide is anonymous you will be unable to withdraw your data once you have completed the study as we will be unable to link it back to you.

Are there any risks associated with taking part in this study?
There are no identified risks in taking part in this research.
